The Danger design process typically begins with a dream or fleeting idea that steeps in the mind, eventually becoming the foundation or focal point of a garment or creation. Whether it is a corsetry patterning method or a sustainable textile design, the ideas are then sketched, researched, developed, manipulated, and tested...and tested. and tested. Other times an idea or concept is brought to me for development in which collaboration with mutual research and testing is integrated.
Another form of process includes free draping on half-scale. As my illustrations mainly focus on garment function and construction, I prefer to explore ideas directly on the form through draping. Sometimes I will begin with an idea and watch how it develops into function as I cut, pin, and mark. Other times I will begin with a clear mind and no intention...focus on mood, curiosity, and grainlines.
